How to make a microvable bean bag heading pad

Instead of using electric heat pads &/ or blankets to warm up your towels you can make your own non electric heating pads- custom to suit your own style, size and if desired-scent. I suggest making 2 of the same size so you can put one on the bottom and one on top of the towels.

You can also use different herbs and scents that offer amazing aromatherapy benefits after your spa experience!

Have fun you will love this and it will be so amazing your friends and family will be asking you how to do it too so save these directions!

Filler Options

 Uncooked rice

 Wheat

 Buckwheat hulls

 Barley

 Oatmeal

 Beans

 Flax seed

You can also add the following to the above for a soothing, fragrant sack: Spices, herbs, essential oils.

 Ideas: lavender, rose petals, ground cloves, nutmeg, ginger, rosemary, cinnamon, peppermint oil, crushed mint

 If using: Mix herbs, spices and essential oil with choice filler (such as rice) and let sit in a sealed container for a few days (occasionally stirring). This will help set and distribute the fragrance a bit.

Fabric Options-keep in mind these must fit in microwave and can be folded in half

 Cotton: (plain, prints, flannels, denims)

 Alternate ideas: old pillow cases cut in half, or whatever you want to fill and can throw in microwave( remember no metal or plastic)

You can also make cozy, removable & washable outer pouches, this is especially nice to do when giving as gifts.

 Fabric Ideas: use old towels, fleece, velour knits, pretty fabric prints and flannels (don’t microwave anything other than cotton fabrics). The softer & fluffier & better!

Instructions

 Cut and sew the fabric in the size and shape you want

 Leave an inch or two open on one side so that you can fill pouch with your choice of filler (about 1/2 to 3/4 full, more or less as you prefer). You don’t want it too full though, the sack should be able to fold easily

 Once it’s full, sew opening closed either by hand or machine (keeping filler pushed to the opposite side of bag while sewing).

If wanting a removable cover, just sew a “pillowcase” idea with your soft, plushy fabric by making it a little larger than your pad and leaving an open end (make sure to finish off ends by sewing a hem). Or you can add a strip of velcro to close it. Careful: Make sure to never microwave this cover unless its content is full cotton. Remove cover to wash as needed.

Finally- Assembly

Drill hole in back of storage container of your choice-ONLY IF YOUR USING ELECTRICAL

Run the cord through the back, making sure no extra is in the box and pad is flat

Use masking tape on the outside to secure wire.

Pour urethane rubber into the hole around the wire to seal it in place. Follow the package instructions for safety. Remove the masking tape once the rubber has set.

Lightly sand the area filled and use touch up paint or if you choose paint the whole box.

This is now ready to use. PLEASE remember to unplug when finished!

So Now You Are Ready To Enjoy a Nice Warm Towel Coming Out Of Your Spa!

Directions For Use- Non Electrical

Heat for 1 to 3 minutes, depending on size. Do not leave unattended “just in case” the filler smokes or starts on fire. As a precaution, you can set a cup of water inside along with it to add moisture or spritz sack lightly with water first. If you add spices and herbs, this is a good idea to do.

Finally… Once bags are warm line the bottom or your storage seat or box with one warmer then put towels on top and then another warmer on top of towels!

Enjoy!
